Complete systems for the transport of reels
Designed and built to allow the transport of reels
A complete system for the transport of reels is an automated system designed for the handling, storage and management of reels of material such as paper, metal, plastic, fabric and other wound materials. These systems are crucial in sectors such as paper, metalworking, textile and plastics, where reels are an integral part of the production process.
The system was designed and built to allow the transport operations of paper reels or rolls on pallets and not, coming from previous processes. The system is composed of: slat conveyor belts for the horizontal transport of entire reels or reel bands, reel tippers with hydraulic and electric fork control, roller conveyors for transferring the reel onto pallets with the reel's vertical axis. A weighing roller conveyor mounted on calibrated load cells, a rotating roller conveyor to divert the reel onto the pallet by an angle of 90°. Four pallet accumulation roller conveyors with vertical axis reels.
Loading and Unloading Systems:
Reel Loaders: Automatic devices that lift and position reels on conveyor belts or automatic guided vehicles (AGVs). They can be equipped with grippers or robotic arms to handle reels of different sizes and weights.
Reel Unloaders: Systems that remove reels from conveyor belts or AGVs, placing them in storage areas or production lines.
Conveyor Belts and Roller Conveyors:
Motorized Roller Conveyors: Used for the horizontal transport of reels within the plant. These systems can be customized to handle reels of various sizes and weights, ensuring safe and stable transport.
Inclinable Roller Conveyors: They allow the transport of reels on slopes, facilitating vertical movement without the need for lifting.
Chain Conveyors: Used for the transport of very heavy reels, such as those made of steel or other metals, offering a high load capacity.
Vertical Transport Systems:
Reel Elevators: Elevators specifically designed for the vertical transport of reels between different levels within the warehouse or production line.
Reel Lifts: Robust systems for moving reels between different levels, suitable for heavy and large loads.
Automated Handling Systems:
Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV): Autonomous vehicles that transport reels within the plant following programmed paths. AGVs are particularly useful in complex environments where flexible handling is required.
Overhead Cranes and Jib Cranes: Used for lifting and moving coils in specific areas, such as loading/unloading from trucks or moving in vertical warehouses.
Storage and Sorting Systems:
Vertical Storage Systems: Structures that allow the storage of reels in a vertical position, optimizing space and facilitating access by forklifts or AGVs.
Horizontal Storage Systems: Used for large diameter or heavy rolls, allowing easy access and handling.
Roll Sorters: Systems that automatically direct rolls to specific storage areas or processing lines based on their destination.
Control and Automation Systems:
Management and Control Software: Manages all plant operations, monitoring the movement of the reels, optimizing the routes and ensuring that each reel arrives at the correct destination.
Positioning Sensors: Integrated along conveyor belts and in storage areas, they ensure that the reels are positioned correctly and detect any anomalies in the system.
Safety Systems:
Safety Barriers and Proximity Sensors: Protect operators from moving machines, ensuring a safe working environment.
Emergency Stop Systems: Emergency buttons distributed throughout the plant to immediately stop operations in case of need.
Rotation and Orientation Systems:
Rotary Tables: They allow the reels to rotate on their axis to align them correctly with respect to the production lines or storage systems.
Roll Tilters: Used to change the orientation of the rolls from vertical to horizontal or vice versa, facilitating different phases of the production process.
Benefits of a Complete Roll Transport System:
Reduces roll handling times and optimizes the workflow, increasing the overall productivity of the plant. Minimizes human intervention in hazardous operations, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries. Can be easily integrated with other automation systems and expanded to meet growing production needs. Ensures that reels are handled safely and accurately, reducing material damage.
Typical Applications:
Paper Industry: Handling of paper reels within production or printing plants.
Metal Industry: Transport of steel, aluminum or other metal reels along production lines.
Textile Industry: Management of yarn or fabric reels, from production to storage.
Plastic Industry: Handling of reels of plastic film or other polymeric materials.
